Dr. Liz Orchard offers movement classes and retreats for women as a way to honor the importance of taking time in life truly nourish yourself and connect with like-minded and like-hearted women. Her classes are a combination of physical movement, mantra, meditation, and connection to both self and community. The structure of her classes are based on her training as a Qoya teacher. Classes are currently taught at Four Gates Physical and Energetic Culture in Minneapolis, MN.
What is Qoya?
Qoya is a blissful form of exercise that nourishes a woman’s body & spirit. It is based on the idea that through movement, we remember that we are wise, wild, and free. In Qoya, we embody wise, wild and free in the following ways:
Wise – through the wisdom of YOGA
Wild – through creative expression in DANCE
Free- the freedom to feel pleasure in our bodies through sensual movement.
Qoya helps women enjoy and revel in their feminine bodies. Classes combine benefits of fitness — including strength, flexibility, balance, and agility training — with a unique empowering approach that is feminine, expressive, and, most importantly, FUN! We unite our body and mind, honor the interconnectedness in ourselves and our world, consciously create community, give rise to our intentions, encourage our desires to dance through us – and, thereby, nourish our soul.
A note from Dr. Liz Orchard:
Qoya is such a powerful form of “movement as medicine” for the body & soul. As a naturopathic doctor, being able to teach women how to love being in their bodies and reconnect to their own sacredness through Qoya is quickly becoming a necessity. After attending my first Qoya class at Four Gates Physical & Energetic Culture in Minneapolis, I felt my body and spirit exclaim “YES!” and I immediately knew that I wanted to share it with as many women as possible. One of the things you’ll hear throughout class is this: “If it feels good, you are doing it right" - an invitation to tune in to your body/intuition for guidance,
